Desiring God has said it well. In the age of social media, our ability to argue, debate, critically think, analyze, synthesize, and the like have been degraded, corroded, and starved. Unlike the humanistic renaissance, if Wikipedia doesn’t include something (and hasn’t edited it out of existence), people are bound not to know the history of their ideas, culture, faith, or the like. Many modern peoples are happy eclectics, believing in disparate doctrines and ignoring the gulfs between them. One such claim is that people can preach the Gospel by only doing good works. This article helps to address one such area where my early 21st century contemporaries have abandoned any such helpful learning: the source of a human’s value.

There is much here between these two posts rife for good discussion. I have found the articles available at thepublicdiscourse.com refreshing in the depth to which they discuss topics. I don’t agree with every author but their articles are thought-provoking and good for digestion.

A good reminder that behind the people and ideas and problems we discuss in politics are actual people with actual lives facing actual suffering and having to make decisions between righteousness and wickedness. Apart from the Lord’s grace, none can know Him.
I, Paul, myself entreat you, by the meekness and gentleness of Christ—I who am humble when face to face with you, but bold toward you when I am away!—I beg of you that when I am present I may not have to show boldness with such confidence as I count on showing against some who suspect us of walking according to the flesh. For though we walk in the flesh, we are not waging war according to the flesh. For the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh but have divine power to destroy strongholds. We destroy arguments and every lofty opinion raised against the knowledge of God, and take every thought captive to obey Christ, being ready to punish every disobedience, when your obedience is complete.
2 Corinthians 10:1–6, ESV
So flee youthful passions and pursue righteousness, faith, love, and peace, along with those who call on the Lord from a pure heart. Have nothing to do with foolish, ignorant controversies; you know that they breed quarrels. And the Lord’s servant must not be quarrelsome but kind to everyone, able to teach, patiently enduring evil, correcting his opponents with gentleness. God may perhaps grant them repentance leading to a knowledge of the truth, and they may come to their senses and escape from the snare of the devil, after being captured by him to do his will.

An important bill being brought in the wake of an awful revelation of the implications of maintaining sin in the law of our country. Prov 14:34. Hopefully bringing this tragic and wicked work into the light will bring about some much needed changes in our country towards righteousness.
